Queen of Diamonds Quilt Along | Month 1

We attended our first English Paper Piecing (EPP) Quilt class. It was nice to meet everyone in our class — about 12 ladies. We will continue to meet monthly to make a couple of blocks each month. We learned a ton!

Queen of Diamonds Quilt Along

What a fun project! We’ll make this quilt over the next year with 41 different fabrics. There are instructional videos from the company that created the quilt. The designer Tula Pink is also quilting along with us. And quilt stores all over the country will be participating.

English Paper Piecing

I am very new to paper piecing. I traditionally use my sewing machine for making quilts. But I am falling in love with this method. For example, right now I am heading out to another doctor’s appointment. I am taking along my pieces, sewing needles, scissors, and thread. Oh and the book for the pattern. I can sit and wait for my hubby’s surgery to be completed and work on my quilt. Don’t love the doctor’s visit but at least I can do something while I wait!

Out and About

Here’s my setup at the Doctor’s Office. I was waiting for my hubby to get his mole removed. Got a lot done in the hour I had to wait. Love this!

I took a small bag with the cut pieces and glued the paper to it. I only needed a needle, scissors, thread, clip, and bird needle threader! Oh, and I took the book so I had the pattern.

Here is a great picture of the final project — Queen of Diamonds.
