Scan Your Scrapbooks: 3-Part Series

Welcome to my 3-part series about using your Brother Scan N Cut to turn your scrapbook albums into home videos. Your family will enjoy watching their albums on TV!

Part 1: Our 12×12 Pages

  • Creative Memories Album with 12×12 Pages
  • Remove brads & buttons along with any thick elements
  • Use non-sticky scanning mat with non-glare coversheet
  • Can directly scan the old 11.5″ pages by turning sideways

Part 2: Scan N Cut Machine

  • DX vs earlier models
  • Connect to your home network and your CanvasWorkspace Account
  • Press Cloud option vs. Scan to USB
  • Import into CanvasWorkspace
  • Increase % size of mat to 60 to 80% to fill the screen
  • Screenshot using Windows PrintScreen buttons
  • Save to USB for newer machines creates JPEG directly

Part 3: Turn Pages into a Movie

  • Trim your screenshots using a photo editor
  • Combine 2-page layouts into 1 image (perfect size for TV viewing)
  • Optional: Name files by YEAR-MONTH-DAY EVENT format (ie, 20230409 Easter)
  • Make a backup of your files, I recommend Snapfish
  • Use Wondershare Filmora to create an MP4 home video by adding music to your scanned scrapbook pages
  • Add a page-curl element to simulate flipping thru the album

Bonus: Windows 11 Crop Tip

  • Recently upgraded to Windows 11 and found a quicker way to crop!
  • After scanning and retrieving on your computer, hold down the WINDOWS and Printscreen keys
  • Go to Pictures / Screenshots folder on your computer
  • Right mouse click on screenshot, then select Open With / Photos
  • Press the EDIT button above the picture (box with pencil)
  • Now simply drag the white corners to the corners of your 12×12 layout
  • Press SAVE and click on next arrow to quickly edit all your screenshots
